InfoTool brings together environmental sensor readings, primary local data from municipalities, and secondary data from regional and national geoportals — all in one place, so you don’t have to hunt across scattered sources.
Environmental Data
Live and historical sensor readings are made available through an OGC SensorThings API, an open standard for publishing real-time environmental data. Two stations are currently active:
- Leverkusen weather station — reporting air temperature, air pressure, humidity, soil temperature, soil moisture, wind speed and direction, solar and diffuse radiation, precipitation, weight, and distance, with data going back to November 2025
- SMT100 — soil temperature and soil moisture monitoring near Kerpen
Primary Data (Municipality / Local Providers)
Land use data, administrative boundaries, citizen science contributions, climate risks and hazards, and hydrology data collected directly from municipal and regional partners.
Our current municipal partners include Stadt Leverkusen, Stadt Kerpen, and the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, each with their own dedicated climate data catalog accessible through our Geoportal.
Secondary Data (Geoportals / Third-Party Datasets)
We also draw on established external geoportals and datasets to fill in the wider regional picture:
- Geoportal.NRW
- Klimaatlas NRW
- Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) — hydrometeorology
- Socioeconomic and demographic datasets
- Landsat / Sentinel satellite imagery

Our Geoportal organizes datasets using standard ISO topic categories. As of now, the catalog includes:

- Imagery, Base Maps & Earth Cover — 8 datasets

Project Groups
Datasets in the Geoportal are also organized by project and regional group, including Co-Site, Germany, Leverkusen, Kerpen, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, and Blue Green Infrastructure.
